Gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp has resigned as Georgia’s secretary of state, the Associated Press reported. The effectiveness of the resignation is Thursday night, the report said. Critics including President Jimmy Carter called on Kemp to resign as secretary of state before the election, which he oversees. The Republican leads Democrat Stacey Abrams, who hasn’t conceded, by a 50.3%-to-48.7% margin, according to the latest tally.
