Two Ohio senators, Democrat Sherrod Brown and Republican Rob Portman, say they asked General Motors GM, -5.02% CEO Mary Barra to build more vehicles — electric or sport utility vehicles — at its Lordstown plant that the automaker says will stop making Chevy Cruze and employs 1,500 people. “We’re not asking for charity,” Portman said. Brown says it’s important for GM to speed up a decision ahead of the September deadline with the United Auto Workers for a new contract.
