Restaurant Brands International Inc. QSR, +0.82% said Tuesday it is planning to expand its Burger King, Tim Hortons and Popeyes brands to more than 40,000 restaurants around the world, making it one of the biggest restaurant chains in the world. The company currently has about 26,000 restaurants and has grown system-wide sales to more than $32 billion today from $15 billion in 2010, the company said in a statement released ahead of an investor day. Restaurant Brands expects its coffee, burger and chicken markets to grow 5% to 6% a year for the next five years. Shares were not yet active premarket, but have gained about 18% in the last 12 months, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.80% has gained 4.5%.
