New York state had 30,811 cases of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 on Wednesday, up about 20% from Tuesday, according to data published by the New York State Health Department. The majority of those, at 17,856, are in New York City, followed by Westchester County, which has 4,961 cases. There have been at least 192 deaths in New York City, and another 53 in other areas of the state, according to data provided by the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering’s Centers for Systems Science and Engineering. There are at least 61,167 cases in the U.S. and 849 deaths. At least 354 people in the U.S. have recovered.
