Lions Gate Entertainment Corp’s LGF.A, +3.60% Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios Los Angeles announced Friday a first-look agreement to create original shows. As part of the deal, the two companies will identify, co-develop and co-fund scripted shows and original intellectual property for the U.S. market. The BBC Studios unit in Los Angeles provides content to broadcast, cable and subscription services, including “Getting On” and “The Night Of,” both broadcast on HBO, “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC and “Life Below Zero” on National Geographic Channel. Shares of Lions Gate gained 5.6% on Friday, but have tumbled 32% in the year to date. The S&P 500 SPX, +0.85% has gained 3.5%.
