KFC said Wednesday that it’s expanding its Beyond Meat Inc. BYND, -3.71% test to Charlotte, Nashville and its surrounding areas starting Feb. 3. Beyond Fried Chicken will be available through Feb. 23, or while supplies last. The chicken chain launched a pilot of the plant-based menu item in Atlanta in Aug. 2018, which sold out in five hours. KFC says both companies made improvements to Beyond Fried Chicken after the pilot so that it has the “taste and texture of whole muscle chicken.” KFC is part of the Yum Brands Inc. YUM, +0.41% portfolio, which also includes Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Beyond Meat shares have rallied 46.5% over the past three months. Yum Brands stock is down 4.5%. And the S&P 500 index SPX, +1.01% is up nearly 8% for the period.
